A BRIEF INTRODUSTION

　 The　Baotou Huanghe Hihg-tech　Plastics Co．Ltd．is located in the Baotou Rare-earth High-tech Development Zone(a national-level　development　zone designated by the Government)．The　Company　is the largest domestic PE separator　producer which enjoys the most　advanced technology　in　the　industry． We have　imported a PE separator automation　production line from the Jungfer Corporation　of　Austria　by　taking　advantage　of　a foreign　government　loan．The　first　production line has　consumed　an　investment totallu RMB ￥80 million which　shall　result　in　an　annual　capacity　of 5.5 million square meters．
 
　　PE separator is the abbreviation　for the　microporous　polyethylene　separator which　makes use of high molecular polyethylene as raw materials．It is mainly used for the starter lead-acid battery．
　　PE　separator　enjoys　several marked advantages over its predecessors(like PVC and AGM)．It features　very　small-sized　pores(≤0.1μm)，high　porosity(≥60%)，high chemical　purity，high oxidation　Besides，it　can　work　properly　within the temperature　range　of -40℃－+80℃．All these　characteristics　combine to make PE separator the perfect　choice in the range of battery separators．
　　The　application　of　the　PE　separator will make qualitatively　measurable improvements in terms of　performance　specifications．These　improvements　find　expression　in the　following　aspects：(1)the starting　properties　forthe automotives　will be　greatly　improved　due to the fact　that　PE　separator　has　low　electrical　resistance　and　high　porosity．(2)The　life　expectancy　of　battery　will　be　substantially　extended　by　the PE separator＇s　property　of high　oxidation　resistance　with　small　pore　size．(3)The short　circuit that may happen as　a result of the falling of the plate　materials　will be effectively prevented by the high strength and　pocket　size　of the PE　separator．In addition，the ratio of the capacity to the size of PE separator makes compact battery possible．
　　As　a　direct　result　of the　above-mentioned　physical　properties　and　advantages，the PE separator　enjoys　a　80%　share　of　the　market　place　in China，which　leaves a vast room for its　production　and application here．
